Hanuman Temple Ramboda is a peaceful spiritual destination located on the Kandy–Nuwara Eliya road, surrounded by beautiful tea plantations and misty mountains. Believed to be connected to the Ramayana, it features a magnificent Hanuman statue, a serene atmosphere, a spiritual book store, souvenir shops, a spacious car park, and a nearby Indian vegetarian restaurant serving delicious Paper Roast Dosa. Hanuman Temple Ramboda – A Peaceful Journey of Faith, Nature, and Blessings

The Hanuman Temple in Ramboda is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have ever visited in Sri Lanka. It is more than just a religious place. It is a destination where faith, nature, culture, and peace come together. Whether you are a devotee, a traveller, or someone looking for a calm escape from a busy life, this temple offers an unforgettable experience.
My visit to the Hanuman Temple was not just another trip. It became a day filled with happiness, spiritual blessings, beautiful scenery, delicious food, and moments that refreshed both my heart and mind. Every minute I spent there reminded me that sometimes the greatest journeys are the ones that bring inner peace.

The Location of Hanuman Temple Ramboda

The Hanuman Temple is located in Ramboda, along the famous Kandy–Nuwara Eliya road in Sri Lanka’s Central Province. It sits among the breath-taking hills covered with lush green tea plantations, making it one of the most scenic temple locations in the country.
The temple is approximately 1,300 metres (around 4,265 feet) above sea level. The cool climate and fresh mountain air make every visit pleasant throughout the year.
Many tourists travelling between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya stop here because it is easy to reach and offers both spiritual and natural beauty.

The History behind the Temple

The Hanuman Temple is closely connected with the great Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to the Ramayana tradition, Ramboda is believed to be one of the places where Lord Hanuman searched for Goddess Sita after she was taken to Lanka by King Ravana.
Many devotees believe Hanuman rested in this region during his search. Because of this belief, the temple has become an important pilgrimage site for Hindus from Sri Lanka, India, and many other countries.
The temple is managed by the Chinmaya Mission and welcomes visitors from all religions. It stands today as a symbol of devotion, courage, loyalty, and faith.

The Magnificent Hanuman Statue

The first thing that captures every visitor’s attention is the magnificent statue of Lord Hanuman.
Standing at approximately 16 feet (about 5 metres) tall, the beautifully decorated statue overlooks the surrounding mountains. The vibrant colours and powerful appearance of Hanuman inspire courage, hope, and confidence in every devotee.
As I stood before the statue, I felt a deep sense of respect and gratitude. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to forget the stress of daily life.

Surrounded by Nature’s Beauty

One of the greatest attractions of the Hanuman Temple is its stunning natural surroundings.
Every direction offers spectacular views of rolling green hills, tea plantations, mist-covered mountains, colourful flowers, and fresh mountain air. Birds sing gently while cool breezes flow through the trees.
Instead of hearing traffic and city noise, visitors hear only nature.
I spent several quiet moments simply looking at the scenery. It felt as though nature itself was praying.
Sometimes we travel long distances searching for peace, but here, peace seems to be waiting for every visitor.

A Calm and Peaceful Mind

One thing I noticed immediately was how peaceful my mind became.
The temple is very clean, calm, and well maintained. Devotees pray quietly while visitors walk respectfully around the temple.
  • There is no rush.
  • No pressure.
  • Only silence, faith, and positive energy.
I sat for several minutes in quiet prayer. During those peaceful moments, I felt grateful for my life, my family, and every blessing I had received. The worries that filled my mind before arriving slowly disappeared.
The blessings of Lord Hanuman gave me confidence, hope, and inner strength.

Beginning My Day with a Delicious Breakfast

One of the most enjoyable parts of my visit was breakfast at the nearby Indian vegetarian restaurant.
I ordered a Paper Roast Dosa, one of my favourite South Indian dishes.
The dosa was perfectly crispy, golden brown, and served with delicious sambar and different varieties of chutney. Every bite was full of authentic Indian flavours.
The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and suitable for families as well as pilgrims.
Even if you are not a vegetarian, I highly recommend trying the food. The meals are fresh, healthy, and prepared with care.
It was the perfect way to begin my spiritual journey.

Visit the Temple Book Store

Inside the temple premises, visitors can also explore a small book store.
The shop offers religious books, devotional songs, prayer books, photographs of Lord Hanuman and other Hindu deities, spiritual gifts, and educational materials.
Many visitors purchase these books to continue their spiritual journey after returning home.
I enjoyed browsing through the collection because every book seemed to offer valuable lessons about faith, kindness, and devotion.

Small Shops with Beautiful Souvenirs

Several small souvenir shops are located near the temple.
These shops sell memorable gifts, religious items, key chains, magnets, statues, bracelets, prayer beads, incense sticks, traditional handicrafts, and many other keepsakes.
These souvenirs make wonderful gifts for family members and friends.
I bought a small keepsake to remind myself of the peaceful day I spent at the temple. Every time I look at it, I remember the calmness I experienced there.

Convenient Parking Facilities

Visitors do not have to worry about parking.
The temple provides a spacious car park that makes travelling easy for families, tour buses, and private vehicles.
The organised parking area helps visitors enjoy their visit without unnecessary stress.

Friendly People Everywhere

Another beautiful part of the experience was the kindness of the people.
The temple staff, restaurant workers, shop owners, and fellow visitors were friendly and respectful.
Their warm smiles made the visit even more enjoyable.
Good hospitality always leaves a lasting memory, and this temple certainly offers that.

The cool breeze, peaceful environment, and spiritual atmosphere helped me forget every worry for a while.
As I stood before Lord Hanuman, I silently prayed for strength, wisdom, good health, and happiness for everyone I love.
